About Look to Help
Look to Help started around a kitchen table. Our family kept noticing the same thing in our own neighborhood: older neighbors who had lived in their homes for decades, proud of them, and no longer able to keep up with the yard or the deep cleaning. Hiring help was out of reach for many of them.
So we started showing up. What began as a few weekends of mowing and hauling bags of leaves has grown into an organized volunteer effort run by our family with the help of neighbors who want to pitch in.
What we do
Right now we focus on two things we can do well and safely: outdoor lawn work — mowing, trimming, weeding, raking, and clearing walkways — and interior household cleaning such as kitchens, bathrooms, floors, and dusting. Everything is free. We never ask for payment, and volunteers are told not to accept it.
Who we serve
Seniors first. If you are older, living on a fixed income, or recovering from an illness or surgery, you are exactly who we had in mind. Family members, neighbors, church staff, and case workers are all welcome to submit a request on someone's behalf.
Why we ask about the property
Our request form asks some direct questions about the condition of the home — pests, pets, smoking, clutter, stairs, and whether the water and power are working. We are not judging anyone. We ask because we send real people into these homes, many of them volunteers with kids at home, and we will not put them somewhere unsafe. Honest answers help us bring the right crew, the right equipment, and the right expectations. If a home needs professional remediation before cleaning is possible, we will tell you and try to point you toward help.
How a request works
- You submit a request with your address and details about the property.
- A coordinator from our family reviews it and calls you to confirm the details.
- We match the job with volunteers who have the right availability and equipment.
- We schedule a date and time, and let you know who to expect.
